So pleased to announce a new chapter at Jill Krutick Fine Art -- the debut of "Painting Storytime!" We are putting together short 2-minute videos of individual paintings or painting series and the stories behind them. The inspiration, the process, the adventure.

The making of these videos is a collaborative process and includes a variety of content. We include work in process images, studio painting time videos, final images, exhibition images, and a background discussion of the inspiration behind the work. The goal is to create an immersive look at individual paintings and to bring viewers closer to the artistic process.

We look forward to bringing more Painting Storytimes your way. Please feel free to provide feedback and let us know which painting you would like to learn more about.

Hope you join us on this journey!

Episode 1 | Chasing the Invisible

Our first Painting Storytime is dedicated to "Chasing the Invisible," a painting that was inspired by a pop song my daughter, Zoe Allyn, wrote and sang. Original music composition and vocals of "Chasing the Invisible" are by Zoe Allyn Berg. The Painting Storytime logo illustration is by Simone Kurtz, animation by Kathy Mathews and musical jingle by Casey Lakritz.

Episode 2 | Dance of the Caterpillars

Our second Painting Storytime focuses on “Dance of the Caterpillars," a magical painting inspired by children's fairytales. Original music composition for this video is by Casey Lakritz, illustration by Simone Kurtz and animation and video editing by Kathy Mathews.

Episode 3 | Ice Cubes

Our third episode features my Ice Cube series, a powerful style featuring geometric elements inspired by Abstract Expressionists like Mark Rothko. Its unique composition represents the internal "fire from within" when facing a personal challenge, celebrating the resilience and power of the human spirit. The Painting Storytime logo illustration is by Simone Kurtz, animation by Kathy Mathews and musical jingle by Casey Lakritz.

Episode 4 | The Way We Were

Our fourth episode of Painting Storytime features an undersea adventure painting called "The Way We Were." Heavily textured and colorful, this painting is meant to instill a sense of longing for a time when the ocean was vibrant and stable. As coral reefs sustain great damage due to global warming, I wanted to memorialize a time when things were majestic and magical. The Painting Storytime logo illustration is by Simone Kurtz, animation by Kathy Mathews and musical jingle by Casey Lakritz.

Episode 5 | Seahorse

This week’s episode features Seahorse, a swirl-style piece inspired by the southwest charm of Santa Fe. This sculptural painting features heavy layers of molding paste and washes of gold and turquoise to create a landscape of velvety textures and sunny colors. Video editing and animation by Kathy Mathews, musical jingle by Casey Lakritz, and logo illustration by Simone Kurtz.

Episode 6 | Dreamscape & Shangri La

In this episode of Painting Storytime, we explore Jill Krutick's Dreamscape and Shangri La series of works — fantasy worlds inspired not only by the sky, sea, and earth, but of cherished moments from childhood and home. Video editing and animation by Kathy Mathews, musical jingle by Casey Lakritz, and logo illustration by Simone Kurtz.

Episode 7 | Trout Series

This week's episode of Painting Storytime features Krutick’s Trout Series, a set of oil paintings inspired by the unique beauty and distinctive markings of various species of trout and the familial ties they hold. Video editing and animation by Kathy Mathews and logo illustration by Simone Kurtz.
