  • 425 Mount Pleasant Avenue 448 Mamaroneck Ave Mamaroneck, NY, 10543 United States (map)

The Penn Club of Westchester and Rockland Counties and the Penn Club of New York are excited to offer a two part series on investing in art. Attend either or both!

We'll first offer a free webinar on Thursday, November 6 from 7 - 8 PM with expert panelists who'll discuss the art market today—from traditional works to digital and NFT formats—and explore investment options beyond direct acquisition, including funds, fractional ownership, and sustainable, ethical investing approaches. The panel will also address related risks, risk mitigation strategies, and the emerging role of technology in supporting art investment decisions.

We'll then offer a special in-person event at the home gallery of artist Garry Grant and Valerie Grant (W'88) in Harlem's historic Sugar Hill district on Saturday, November 8 from 3 - 5 PM. The afternoon will include a private tour with the artist of the couple's in-home art gallery and a happy hour reception.

Moderator:

Jill Krutick (W'84) has been a full-time, contemporary abstract expressionist artist since 2010.  She has been honored with six museum exhibitions on two continents, including four solo shows. Krutick is a most unusual, even radical, artist in that she is equally analytical and creative. Before her fantasy career as a full-time artist, Krutick was a high-ranking media executive and a top-ranked equity analyst on Wall Street. Prior to leaving the corporate world and committing to her art practice full time, she was Fortune Magazine’s #1 Entertainment Analyst in 2001.

The energy, talent and perception that created success in the business world have refocused on mark making that is both rhapsodic and conversational, expressing her passion for the environment and visionary imagination. Her most recent solo museum exhibition in 2023 featured a site-specific 85-foot long abstract artwork, “Coral Beliefs,” at Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park and Museum, Ohio. The mixed media on panel work captured both the exquisite beauty and the unprecedented tribulations faced by coral reefs around the world today.

Coral reefs have become the language in which Krutick communicates not only as an artist but as an artist/gallerist entrepreneur. Krutick has expanded her artist network, global reach and artistic discovery by opening her studio space to hundreds of artists over the past few years. She has worked with MFA students, photographers, printers, painters, sculptors, watercolorists and eco-warriors. These efforts underscore the necessity for artists to come together to realize their own dreams. Very much like a coral reef, we are all interdependent on each other.

Krutick paints in her Westchester, New York studio/gallery with her Old English Sheepdogs, Rocket, Violet and Rocket’s son, Buzz.

Panelists

Garry Grant is a New York City-based artist celebrated for his expansive, large-scale abstract works created on multi-canvas compositions and intricately layered wood panels. A Detroit native, Grant studied at the College for Creative Studies, where he began forging a path that blends fine art with the meticulous craft of master gilding. His early experience restoring antique frames for renowned framing houses informs his distinct visual language—one that emphasizes texture, depth, and timeless craftsmanship.

Rooted in a deep fascination with ancient civilizations, Grant's work explores the resonance between historical memory and contemporary abstraction. Drawing from the visual grandeur and symbolic weight of antiquity, his art becomes a portal—connecting the present to the enduring echoes of the past.

Over more than two decades, his practice has evolved into a compelling fusion of abstraction, material history, and narrative storytelling. Grant's work has been widely exhibited in solo and group exhibitions across the United States, including The Brooklyn Artist Exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum and
Luminosity: A Detroit Gathering at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History. Through his richly layered surfaces and conceptual depth, Garry Grant continues to honor ancestral legacy while pushing the boundaries of contemporary abstraction.

Garry will discuss the artist's approach to product/market fit and market engagement. He is married to Valerie Grant (W'88).

Folana Dione Miller is a gallerist, visual artist, and social entrepreneur whose career bridges the worlds of art, culture, and finance. A graduate of Syracuse University’s SI Newhouse School of Communications, Miller has built a dynamic path that spans private equity, creative industries, and community-driven ventures.

Before establishing their presence in the art world, Folana spent years in the upper echelons of finance, working with global firms such as KKR and Apollo. That foundation in strategy and investment sharpened an ability to navigate complex markets while always keeping an eye on cultural impact.

Equally at home in creative spaces, Miller has contributed to leading companies in fashion, film, and music, including Diane von Furstenberg, Sony Music, and Miramax Films. This cross-disciplinary background informs their curatorial and artistic vision, blending storytelling with sharp business acumen.

Today, as both a gallerist and practicing visual artist, Folana champions emerging voices and cultivates platforms that bridge commerce and creativity. Their work as a social entrepreneur is rooted in building sustainable ecosystems where art can thrive, reflecting a belief that cultural stewardship and financial innovation go hand in hand.
