  • 425 Mount Pleasant Avenue 448 Mamaroneck Ave Mamaroneck, NY, 10543 United States (map)

Very excited to be featuring a recently completed set of aridification paintings for an Artsy exhibition. Nine works will be available online and for sale individually and as a set. In addition, the original works will also be on view at The World of Moco in Bridgeport, CT for the Juneteenth celebration. More details to be announced.

The “Contours of the Earth” series is a group of abstract watercolor paintings that represent postapocalyptic imagined shapes of the world’s continents after the melting of the ice caps, rise of sea levels and the drying of the earth’s terrain from rising temperatures, or aridification.

Aridification relates to droughts from the change in weather patterns, which contribute to drier soil conditions and hydrologic stress on rivers, forests, agriculture, and other systems. The materials used to create my aridification paintings are philosophically in sync with the work’s message. It features the interplay of watercolor paints on yupo paper, using an orange and teal color palette to create a value range from pale to intense hues. The unpredictable drying process symbolizes the shrinking water supply and depletion of the earth through their color and topographic, map-like quality. I hope to find a balance between poetry and realism that would inspire a call to action.
